Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) is an international initiative driven by healthcare professionals and industry to improve how medical technologies share information.
IHE promotes the coordinated use of established healthcare and general IT standards to address specific clinical needs in support of optimal patient care. Technologies conforming with IHE frameworks generally communicate with one another better, are easier to implement, and enable care providers to access and utilize information more effectively.
Capsule supports the IHE initiative and participates in the organization’s annual Connectathon, the healthcare industry’s largest, most rigorous interoperability testing event. Representatives of medical technology providers and healthcare IT gather annually to collaborate and test implementations of IHE profiles and communication standards. IHE’s unique testing environment allows vendors to test their implementations of the IHE specifications and verify interoperability with other vendors’ implementations.
